Museum Information
DESCRIPTION
The Fire Brigade Museum is located right on the edge of Simonstorp and contains about 250 years of history about the development of fire brigades and the ambulance service, which is today called the Rescue Service.
In the museum, you will find tools, clothes, and equipment from different eras and activities. From when fire brigades and ambulances used hand- and horse-drawn carts to today’s motorized vehicles.
Fire, ambulance, and police personnel’s equipment, uniforms, protective gear, and tools are displayed in extensive collections.
The evolution of the fire extinguisher has gone from buckets and hand pumps to throwers, and today’s fire extinguishers have changed in appearance over the years.
About 15 of the Fire Brigade’s motorized vehicles are represented. You can see the Norrköping Fire Brigade’s first fire engine, a Dürkopp converted from a passenger car. Later, another conversion was made to it, and it then served as Norrköping’s first foam car.
During your visit, you will also see the horse-drawn ambulance donated to the Norrköping Fire Brigade in 1902 by Queen Sofia’s Association.
