1948 Mack EQSW Armored Truck Now on Display at Iowa 80 Trucking Museum
This 1948 Mack EQSW Armored Truck was
purchased in 1948 by Wells Fargo Armored Service Corporation in New York
City. According to tax stickers on the windshield before restoration, it was
decommissioned from service in May 1965. Remarkably, it avoided being
scrapped and was discovered in a tractor dealership in southeastern
Vermont in 1983. The truck then sat untouched in a shed until 2011.
Although the previous owners hadn’t turned the key in over 25 years, the
engine started right up after a quick 12-volt jump to the starter.
After a complete frame-off restoration by the Iowa 80 Trucking Museum,
the truck is finally ready to be displayed!
