Central Garage Opens Gordon Bennett Cup Exhibition In Bad Homburg
BAD HOMBURG, 20 April, 2024 -- This year marks the 120th anniversary of the 1904 Gordon Bennett Cup, the first truly international motorsport event.
Hosted between 1900-1905 the race took place in Germany in 1904. It started in the city of Bad Homburg, which prompted Dieter Dressel, proprietor of the Central Garage Museum to focus on this race. Last year a website, https://gordonbennettcup.racing was set up and now the Museum is holding a special exhibition. Mr. Dressel and renowned German historian Thomas Ulrich put together an exciting display which shows the efforts the German nation, including a grandstand which was realised with a cost of over 300,000 RM. A scale-model replica of this grandstand was built over a two-year period. There are some great cars on display too, including a Richard Brasier plus several Mercedes and Adler cars from the collection of Mr Dressel.
The exhibition is open until the end of the year.
