Museum Information
DESCRIPTION
ÅSSA industrial and car museum was formed in 1987, when production at ÅSSA ceased, and operations were moved from the site.
The purpose of the formation was to save an era of industrial history. The initiative for this was taken by Åtvid’s Hembygdsförening and former workers at ÅSSA. The museum is run by non-profit forces.
The ÅSSA Museum consists of two departments:
Workshop
Halva verkstaden is ÅSSA’s original workshop, where the work continued until its closure in 1987. Here, it still looks like the workshop is only closed for the day, and the workers will return at any time.
The other half has been filled with machines that were later moved there. From, among other things, FACIT.
Exhibition halls
In the exhibition halls, objects related to industry in Åtvidaberg are shown as:
- cars, including the Åtvidabergsbilen from 1911
- Åtvidaberg inventions and special technology
